The Abbey was established in 1926; the winery in 2002. An excerpted from "The Benedictine Chronicles," February, 1924: "Father Justin, Father Coleman and Father Francis bottle wine made last fall." Thus the Winery at Holy Cross Abbey returns to its early heritage. Nestled at the crossroads of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains near Canon City and under the watchful eye of award-winning wine-maker and consultant, Matt Cookson, the Abbey planted several acres of grapes in 2000.

The TASTING ROOM has been designed to make your wine experience truly memorable. Visit in the spring and summer and enjoy the beautiful outdoor garden setting while viewing thriving vineyards growing against the majestic backdrop to the Rocky Mountains. In the winter, warm your hands by our toasty fireplace while sipping a rich full-bodied Merlot.

Award winning wines include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Merlot. Also check some of the fanciful fun wines, Wild Ca–on Harvest, Apple Blossom, Vineyard Sunset and Colorado Nouveau. Tours, tastings, and gift shop.

GIFT SHOP: Not only can you purchase all our wines, we also have a variety of souvenirs that with enhance your enjoyment of our wine which include:

Complement your purchase with our logo wine glasses or the Harvest Grape Cordial glasses. Our logo-embellished coasters are handmade from tumbled Botticino marble quarried in Italy. We also have cook books, t-shirts, corkscrews, bottle stoppers and corks to choose from.
